November News from Jo in Nicaragua

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.  Ephesians 2:8.

Dear Friends and Family,

I am enjoying life on Ometepe and am slowly starting to establish my role within the nutritional project.  Idalgo and I are still visiting the communities together, whenever we have the opportunity to do so, however the rains of recent weeks rather slowed things down, as many of the roads became impassable.

The Latest news from Jo in Nicaragua

September Newsletter from Jo (Adkins)

‘Be still, and know that I am God;

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth.’ Psalm 46:10

Dear Friends and Family,

I have been living on Ometepe for two months now. I spent the first week here staying in a hotel, and used the time to find more permanent accommodation.

Houses here very rarely have ‘to rent’ signs if they are available, therefore finding somewhere to live is a case of asking anybody and everybody if they know of anywhere to rent. I eventually found a room, with a bathroom and a kitchen (the house has two) to rent in the home of a Nicaraguan family.

Nicaragua – Exodo Farm

Libby and Ancelmo believe that in the midst of their desire to support and help the people, especially the children of Nicaragua, that they should be running a farm project.  The Exodo farm project is located in the Pearl Lagoon area of Nicaragua, off the Caribbean coast. The project caters for up to 10 residents, from schools and churches. They are provided with a Christian environment in which they can learn about God.  They also learn other life skills as the  aims of  the farm  project are to educate the local community about healthy eating and facilitating provision of fresh fruit and vegetables sourced local to the area, sustainable  farming skills, responsible use of land and reforestation.  In short, if it helps you remember……Jesus, food, farming, lobsters, reforestation!

Nicaragua – What is it?

Mission work in Nicaragua has been in progress for over 10 years. The time has now come to extend that work to teaching children and teenagers sustainable farming skills. There is a partnership with a Christian based charity (SIFT) who have been working with the poor in Nicaragua since 2000. The vision is to have a residential project to teach both farming and biblical studies and encourage new growth in a changing economy. For more information contact: exodus_nica@yahoo.co.uk.
